i decided today that instead of drawing on my desks in school, i should actually draw something in my sketchbook. i've always wished i could make crazy detailed dragons like i see on this site all the time. so, i tried my hand at a nice detailed profile of my good old friend Mr. Basilisk. took some of the shading techniques i've found through drawing him the first time, and actually from drawing that giraffe a while ago (i doubt you can figure out what).
turned out great!
will probably do another something like this.
DYING inside because this is in my sketchbook and it is going to smeeeeeeear so badly.
i think i'll show it to my art teacher and then rip it out.

The shading came out good. I really like the translucency on the frills, looks cool, and the eye is beautiful.

I know!!! I always see these crazy-awesome realistic-detailed dragons and go 'rawr' because i don't have patience or time...>.< oh noes! smeeeearing? maybe you should put him next to Mr. Dragon to keep each other in line...

thank you, i tried sooooo hard to get it to look translucent! i personally wanna peel off that huge cheek scale and make a necklace out of it. is that... strange?

and like, how do they do an ENTIRE dragon so detailed? if i try to do that with an entire dragon, they come out too small and look like crap! i dont know if my paper is too small or if i just suck or something. >:C mehhhhhh.

you're welcome muchly. It looks great. naw, actually, it occurred to me too...maybe we're just both...strange...

I have NO IDEA!!!!! I have the same problem, except i usually get bored, leaving the poor dragon half-scaled or shaded or whatever..>.<

it is a never ending battle to not get bored while drawing scales. a battle made a bit easier when drawing huge scales.

heh, but still... don thy armor, miscreant! Fear not to make the scales thine enemy!

That's Awesomenesh right there ^^
It's like, perfectly shaded as if there was an actual light source especially too ^^
